So I'm really close to getting weapons finished, finally! I think just one more day to get some more HP stuff working and clean up a few things, and boom done. Then I can start working on AI then I have my first build out. This one I'm going to make public to help get people interested. After this build though I'm only going to put out builds to people on my patreon
so after this build comes out, go check it out if you want more. The animation stuff I did was mostly gui stuff in unity, so let's cover how I got HP showing and maybe something else.

So I goofed up, forgot to unmute my audio after the break. Good new is that it was only 20 minutes so oh well. I'll remember to check for next time. Anyways, for the most part we worked on lowering HP of segments and connectors when they were hit. Also some bug fixing and UI stuff. The reason why the stream was short compared to the last few days is next I need to work on animation. But I need to do some research on how that all works first. It shouldn't take long so I left some other things to do that day. After that AI and early early alpha is done.

So today I got targeting all working! The basic idea is that when a weapon is targeting something an image is put onto whatever it's targeting, each weapon that is targeting something will have it's own image, but it's fine because they will overlap and just numbers will show, and that's the important part.

Alright, I tried to get some stuff with weapon systems going today, and I was partly successful. While I got to it after a while, if you watched the stream or saw the VODs I spent two hours doing other stuff. It needed to be done at some point, so why not now while I notice it. So how about we jump right into some code for moving around the UI elements for when one is removed?
public void ReorderWeaponUI()

Alright got some good work done today! Enough work that I’m going to write up a dev blog again. So what did I do? Well more or less I got unit display working that shows health and who is selected. It’s progress, took me about two and half hours.
Good news! I streamed today, granted only for an hour, but it’s a start! I just wanted to make sure I did at least something today, get back on the horse. I know it isn’t much, but I wanted to start slow. I’ll try to stream tomorrow at least an hour and half, then slowly start working my way up. Today though, was a big hurdle for me to get over. If this hasn’t been obvious, I’m a pretty lazy person.
23 January 2017
I’m not sure why I’m so lazy, I try to do stuff. I don’t want to just be a bum my whole life, being an adult is hard. Part of me wants to blame it on the fact that I’m bipolar, and depression isn’t fun. That might be just a convenient excuse, granted I’m sure it does have a part to do with it. I guess also part of it might of came from school. I never had any issues doing good in high school or even college. I was able to be lazy and get away with it.
So it's a complex answer, why do I want to make a video game? In a way, I don't want to. Well it's more like it's the best option for me. When I say I don't want to, it's more like, it's not the ultimate thing I want to do. I'm not sure I know what I want to do.

So why a video game? Well there's a few things that lead me to that decision. Well I want to be able to make a living off my own work, I enjoy entertaining people, and I know how to, and like to, program.
So the CPU on my computer died, it is very depressing. So I guess work on my game has come to a complete stop. So I guess I need to figure out something to do. All I have now is my cell phone, good thing I got a new one about a year ago.
23 December 2016
What now? Well I'm looking for a part time job right now, kinda sucks. It's going to be hard to find one this time of year. Also filling out applications on my phone isn't fun. But, I have to do it, hopefully I find something cool. Then once I'm making money I can fix my computer and start work on my game again.
15 December 2016
So work on my game has picked up again! Hopefully nothing will stop me from trying to work at least once every other day if not every day. I've been streaming
and uploading the streams to youtube
over the last week, I haven't done much work but I guess I should wrap up some of the things I've done and explain them.
Main things I want to talk about is weapons reloading and removing parts of the ship. That is most of what I've done sense the last post other then just bug fixes or just polishing how something works.
So I kinda goofed up, I forgot to unmute xsplit after doing a test stream to make sure my internet would hold up. So I guess good news, bad news. Well I streamed today to try to figure out how Unity UI worked, and I managed to get it working, and my stream didn't drop at all. I was about to upload to Youtube then I realized, oops no audio.
28 November 2016
Anyways small update, but I want to let everyone know I'm back at it, also no code today. Unity UI seemed really bizarre to me, by default it doesn't work like other objects. So every UI thing has to be a child of a canvas and the canvas just kinda sits in your game space but has a fixed location. That's pretty nice for like a hud or something that will always be in the same place, but that wouldn't work for everything I needed. Sure I could do some math to figure out where a object was compared to the camera then place it in the same relative place of the canvas, but uhhhh no thank you.
